Join us for a and meet and greet with Alexis Andrews, the film maker of the documentary Vanishing Sail, and the Carriacou Sloop Summer Wind, on Wednesday, August 5th, from 5:00-7:00pm at Newport Shipyard prior to the US premiere shown by Rhode Island International Film Festival at Jane Pickens Theatre at 7:30pm.
Alwyn Enoe is one of the last boatbuilders practicing a trade passed down the generations from the original Scottish settlers that arrived in Carriacou in the 19th century. He is approaching his 70s and with no more orders coming in, he decides to build one last sailing sloop with the hope that his sons will continue the trade.
This program is sponsored in collaboration with the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy at Salve Regina University as part of the “Story in the Public Square” program. Story in the Public Square is a year-round initiative to study and celebrate public storytelling and how those stories affect the public debate.
