Industry Gathering Showcases Luxury Yachts for Charter
in New England
For charter yacht brokers, lots of homework goes into finding the perfect match for clients who wish to book a week’s vacation or extended trip on a luxury yacht. Working to their advantage is the Newport Charter Yacht Show presented by Helly Hansen Newport, staged annually by Newport Shipyard in Newport, R.I. Scheduled this year for June 17-20, the show provides brokers with one-stop shopping for unique charter opportunities in New England, and it allows attendees, including agents (who represent the yacht rather than the charterer) and other industry professionals, to network and absorb as much knowledge as possible about their ever-evolving marketplace.
Newport Shipyard is proud to announce that Helly Hansen Newport, the oldest Helly Hansen licensed store in North America, owned by Jay Lasky, has signed on for the fourth straight year as the presenting partner of the 2019 Newport Charter Yacht Show. Held each June at Newport Shipyard, the Newport Charter Yacht Show will feature an impressive lineup of power yachts and sailing vessels available for private charter. The 2019 show, slated to be held June 17-20, will offer yacht charter brokers and industry professionals from around the world the opportunity to preview participating charter yachts headed to New England for the season.
Yacht captains and crew, Shipyard employees and tenants, and friends in the yachting community will come together Friday, Oct. 12, to raise funds for Warrior Sailing Program and Women’s Resource Center
On Friday, October 12, the yachting community will come together at Newport Shipyard to paddle in the Shipyard’s annual “Pumpkin Regatta” which raised over $8,200 for hurricane relief organizations and the Warrior Sailing Program in 2017. Different charities are chosen each year and this year, Shipyard employees chose to once again support Warrior Sailing Program which provides maritime education and outreach for wounded, ill, and injured service members. Newport Shipyard has also partnered with Monique Graham, a local hairstylist at Frank Antonio Hair and Makeup in Newport, who raises money with a group of friends and colleagues each month for a select charity, and this month they have chosen the Women’s Resource Center of Newport.
A group of local sailors, businesses and Sail Newport organized this year’s Sail for Hope race around Jamestown Island on Saturday, September 29, for 55 sailboats. The event raised over $30,000 to benefit Warrior Sailing, The R.I. Red Cross Armed Services Fund and the Edward Oliver “Tad” Sanchez, III Youth Sailing Program.
'Lest we Forget' 9/11Tradition Continues with 17th Annual Race Around Jamestown
The Sail for Hope has become an annual tradition for local sailors who want to continue to show their patriotism and raise funds for others in need. The first event was titled “Sail for Pride” which was organized in the wake of the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. The name “Sail for Pride” was retired, and since 2001 Sail for Hope has raised over $1,000,000 for various non-profit organizations.
From June 18-21, the Newport Charter Yacht Show presented by Helly Hansen Newport provided a four-day window of opportunity for brokers, managers and other industry professionals to acquaint themselves with 24 luxury yachts available for summer charter in the New England area. As well, it gave attendees a chance to network, share information and socialize on the docks and at seminars and special events, mixing business with a good amount of pleasure.
