Newport Shipyard pace car at start line of 2014 Pell Bridge Run
Newport Shipyard is an enthusiastic sponsor of the Pell Bridge Run for the third consecutive year. The Shipyard supports the Bridge Run and provides the pace car for the race. This year, over 3,000 runners and walkers made their way to the start line in Jamestown for the nearly 4-mile race over the Newport Pell Bridge and into downtown Newport.
"We really enjoy being a part of community events like the Pell Bridge Run because it's a great way for us to reach out and support local businesses and members of the community who help support Newport Shipyard throughout the year," said General Manager Eli Dana, who drove the pace car this year with his 2-year-old daughter Rose in tow. "My wife Lauren, her mom and step-dad ran in the race and the weather was perfect and the later start time and earlier date was a welcome change to many participants," continued Dana. "We look forward to sponsoring the event again in 2015."
