The annual Newport Charter Yacht Show presented by Helly Hansen brought out the best in all who participated, including 100+ brokers and agents from 43 different charter yacht companies, 23 sponsors, 15 exhibiting vendors, 40 non-exhibiting vendors and captains and crews of 25 luxury yachts, ranging in size from the 60’ (18.3m) sailing vessel Beau Geste, presented by Bristol Marine, to the 198’ (60.4m) motor yacht Blue Moon, presented by Northrop and Johnson. The show, owned and managed by Newport Shipyard, took place on the company’s 10-acre waterfront facility for its second consecutive year over June 19-23 and was conclusively “bigger and better.”

On Tuesday, in a contest organized by Winnie DeCoster of The Captain’s Concierge and sponsored by ISS GMT Global Marine Travel and Denison Yacht Sales, chefs from eight yachts competed whisk-to-whisk for the coveted title of “Best Charter Yacht Chef.” The participants were given a basket of ingredients that included 10 oz. strips of Wagyu steak; various micros, flowers, greens, vegetables, and herbs; and Rhubarb.

Chef Competition :: Tuesday, June 20th, 1:00pm
Open to all registered yachts in the Charter Yacht Show, this competition is scheduled for Tuesday, June 20th. This year's Chef Competition theme is 'The Five Star Dining Experience' and the competition will follow a traditional mystery basket format. The mystery basket will be filled with New England specialities and the chefs will be given the list of ingredients to be provided and what they can and cannot use from their pantry.
